Netball Regulations

Qualifying Players for FinalsTo qualify to play in a final a player must have played at least half of the roster matches played by the team contesting the final. In the event of "qualified" players being unable to play a replacement player can be drawn from a nominated list of replacements which has been forwarded to the Roster Secretary once finalists have been determined. This list to be on the pro-forma sheet designed for this purpose. Replacement players are not to be of a higher standard than the competition they are entering. Anomalies in the list of of replacement players will be forwarded to the S. SATIS Chairperson.
1. Netball shall be conducted under the rules of the All Australia Netball Association except as stated.
2. Before the start of the match, names of members of both teams are to be filled in on the score sheets.
3. A scorer from each school and one timekeeper shall sit together for the duration of the game. Score sheets are to be signed by the umpires at the conclusion of the match.
4. Each team is obliged to provide an umpire and a match ball. If umpires fail to turn up it is to be marked on the score sheet. Umpires are supplied for 1st Grade matches.
5. Post covers are to be used around goal posts.
6. Players are allowed to play in teams up or down but once a girl plays up in three roster matches she cannot play down again.
7. A player may play two matches on one day, provided she is playing up from her registered team, and that her name and registered team is filled in on the score sheet. The captain and coach of the opposing team are to be notified(where possible) of this before a player plays in either match.
8. Matches must start on time whether all players are present or not. The missing player may not come into play until a goal has been scored and the umpire has been notified. The interchange rule, as stated below, will apply.
9. You may interchange when an injury occurs, or at an interval. Players being interchanged may return to the game later. There is no limit to the number of interchanges a team may make.
NOTE: THE CLOCK DOES NOT STOP FOR INJURIES OR BREAKS IN PLAY.
10. Where a school has more than one team in one roster, players may not move between teams at any time without the permission of the Roster Secretary.
11. Netball matches are as follows:
Ist Grade 5.00pm, 2nd Grade 4.00pm
4 x 12 min. quarters, 1 x 5 and 2 x 2 breaks.
3rd Grade & Grade 10
Saturday
4 x 12 minute quarters, 1 x 5 and 2 x 2 breaks.
Grade 9, Grade 8 & Grade 7
Saturday
4 x 10 minute quarters, 1 x 5 and 2 x 2 breaks.
Mid-Week Games
Monday - commencing at 4.00pm.
4 x 10 minute quarters, 1 x 5 and 2 x 2 breaks.
12. Finals Procedure
a) Where possible, umpires will be independent for all finals. Matches are to be played at the best possible venues.
b) Semi-Finals These are only played if full rounds are not played and will be
1 v 4 and 2 v 3.
If it is a draw at the end of the game, teams will play 5 minutes each way and if it is still a draw, the team higher on the ladder at the end of the roster will go into the Grand Final.
If a Semi-Final is washed out the team higher on the ladder at the end of the roster will go into the Grand Final.
c) Grand Final: between winners of Semi-Finals
If it is a draw at the end of the Grand Final:
Year 7-10 and 3rd Grade will share the final.
1st and 2nds will play 5 minutes each way and if it is still a draw, the team higher on the ladder at the end of the roster shall be the winner.
Washed out Grand Final
For 1st and 2nd Grade the team on top of the ladder shall be the winner.
For Years 7-10 the final shall be shared.

e) The length of finals matches will be the same as for roster matches.
13. Results are to be sent to the Roster Secretary by the following Tuesday, except for 1st Grade whose results should be sent by Thursday.
14. The grouping will be as follows:
1st, 2nd- Open to all age groups in the school.
3rd Grades - Grades 10, 11 & 12
Grade 10 - Grades 10-8
Grade 9 - Grades 9-8
Grade 8 - Grades 8-7
Grade 7 - Grade 7 only
15 The point score will be
Win = 5Draw = 3
Loss = 1
Washout = 3
Forfeit = 5.
Match Ratio will be used to determine ladder positions.
Match Ratio = points scored divided by matches played
16. Cancellations and Forfeits
a) For Saturday games listen to HO FM between 7.00am and 8.00am. The decision will be made by the Roster Secretary.
b) For weekday games the Roster secretary will notify schools at lunchtime of any cancellations. Schools should ring the Roster Secretary's school if there is any doubt about the weather late in the day.
c) If games are cancelled, points will be shared.
d) In the event of wet weather and no overall cancellation of matches, the decision to play will be left to the coaches of each team. "If at least one coach considers conditions are too dangerous for play that game will be postponed. The game must be played before the following roster match."
17. First Aid at venues - each school is responsible for supplying each team with a first aid kit and cold pack.
18. Players must be correctly dressed in playing uniforms. No track pants or bike pants are to be worn during play. Proper netball gloves may be worn.
19. For any roster game, a school may request a change of playing date(due to internal school commitments only). If the other school cannot accommodate the request, the original game must continue.
20. Match Ratio will be used to determine ladder positions.
Match Ratio = points scored divided by matches played.
21. When rosters are changed for regrading purposes, points will begin again.
22. The countdown timer must follow the umpire with 10 seconds remaining in each quarter.
23. Positional bibs must be worn.
