Qualifying Players for Finals

To qualify to play in a final a player must have played at least half of the roster matches played by the team contesting the final. In the event of "qualified" players being unable to play a replacement player can be drawn from a nominated list of replacements which has been forwarded to the Roster Secretary once finalists have been determined. This list to be on the pro-forma sheet designed for this purpose. Replacement players are not to be of a higher standard than the competition they are entering. Anomalies in the list of of replacement players will be forwarded to the S. SATIS Chairperson.

1. Matches shall be played under the rules of the Lawn Tennis Association of Australia accept as hereinafter stated.

2.Two rounds of home and away matches shall be played.

3a Teams shall consist of up to 8 players. Matches shall consist of two doubles rubbers, each pair playing the same pair in the opposing team and four singles rubbers. The doubles players may be different to the singles players. Players may not play below their seeded order in singles. The order of play to be singles rubbers first, rubbers played in reverse order of seeding. The doubles rubber shall then be played 1 v 1 and 2 v 2. A rubber consists of one normal set of tennis as defined in rule 5. If, at the conclusion of the match rubbers are equal, the match will be decided on total games won. If the number of games won is equal then the match will be declared a tie.

3b If a player plays below her/his seeded order, the games won by that player will be forfeited.

4. When possible the roster will take place on a Saturday. Until such time as all schools are agreeable to this then the roster will take place on a Friday.

5. The tie-breaker will be introduced at 6-6 and will be played in the following manner;
The player who would normally serve the 13th game will serve ONE POINT from the right hand court. Thereafter each player will serve TWO POINTS in the same order as previously in that set always starting from the left court. Players shall change ends after six points. The tie-break will be won by the first player to win SEVEN POINTS provided there is a TWO POINT advantage. During the tie-break there will be no breaks for drink, towels, discussion etc.

6.Points: Win - 2 points + 1 point for each rubber won.
Tie - 1 point + 1 point for each rubber won.
Loss - 1 point for each rubber won.

7. If at the end of rostered matches two teams have finished equal on points the Premiership will be determined by percentage (games for and against). If still tied the premiership will be determined by points awarded in matches between the two teams and then by percentage

8. a. The seeded order of singles and doubles pairings must be sent to the roster secretary of SSATIS PRIOR to the beginning of the SECOND MATCH in ROUND ONE.

b. If a school does not submit a team’s seeded order by the set date, the penalty will be loss of points for subsequent matches.

c. If a player plays below his seeded order, the games won by that player will be forfeited.

9. Results
a. It shall be the responsibility of each school to ensure the complete results of all SSATIS roster matches are forwarded to the responsible Secretary as soon as possible after the completion of the match.

b. In the event of a forfeit, the players are to be listed on the score sheet.

10. Match Starting Times

Matches are to commence at 4.00pm. If players are not in position to commence by 4.15pm the offending team shall forfeit. If either the No.3 or No. 4 player is not ready to commence play at 4.15pm then he will forfeit his rubber. If either the No. 1 or No. 2 players is not ready to commence play by 4.25pm he will forfeit his rubber. All players must be in position to commence doubles rubbers by 4.40pm. If a member of a doubles pair is not available at 4.40pm then the first rubber will be forfeited. If a player is not available by 4.55pm then the reverse doubles rubber will be forfeited. Doubles rubbers do not have to start by 5.00pm if singles rubbers have not been completed at that time.

11. Unfinished Matches

Rain Affected

If 5 or more rubbers are won by one team and the match cannot be finished due to rain, the result is to stand with unfinished rubbers to be shared. If 4 or less rubbers are won by one team then the result is a draw and all rubbers are to be shared.

Bad Light

When bad light stops play then unfinished and/or remaining rubbers must be played at an early date and time acceptable to both school so a result can be obtained. Any incomplete rubbers to recommence at the same position, as at the time of the stoppage.

12. As stipulated in the LTAA rules of Team Tennis, coaching is allowed. A player may receive coaching from a coach who is sitting on the side of the court, by the net, when the player(s) change ends at the end of a game. No coaching is allowed at any other time during the game. No coaching is allowed at any time during a tie breaker.
